Percutaneous Intratissue Electrolysis (EPTE) is a safe and invasive technique that uses an electrical current to treat tendon and muscle injuries.
EPTE is based on the theory that electrical current helps to increase local blood flow, which helps to reduce inflammation and pain. This technique is also used to treat myofascial trigger points, which are painful points in the muscles that can contribute to muscle stiffness and pain.
With EPTE, we mainly treat chronic tissue problems (tendinopathies in the subacute and chronic phases, adhesions...).
Percutaneous Intratissue Electrolysis is often used in conjunction with other physiotherapy techniques such as manual therapy, myofascial chain therapy, dry needling, the use of hooks and neuromuscular taping. These techniques are combined to achieve the best results.
